And as far as I remember my problem with it was the lack of ajustments for the deadzone and also 50% deadzone on pedals (because you use an analog stick axis for it and the values on the axis are counted from the 'middle'). I think Namco NeGcon was the first thing I've tried on my quest of making GT2 playable on a wheel. The path for the files is \ePSXe 2.05\ (the same, where your ePSXe.exe is). This should do the trick.Īlso since I've made this post a couple of people contacted me and asked for my pgnneco.ini files that contain the plugin's settings with deadzone already ajusted, so I've made this archive with those available pgnneco.rar I've also been playing for about twenty years, so kudos to you, my soulmate DĪbout launching pagGnneco, just unpack the archive you download from this link, put the files from there into your \ePSXe 2.05\plugins\ directory, then launch ePSXe and go to Config > Plugins > Input Port 1 choose 'pad gnneco' and configure it. I'd strongly suggest always changing both parameters to the same value.Īll the credits go to the padGnneco plugin author, guys from this thread for figuring out the deadzone trick and of course to the ePSXe authors and contributors. Nejiri R is your wheel range from "zero" to "full right"īy reducing min parameter in first and increasing min parameter in second you effectively decrease steering deadzone. In the same directory as your ePSXe executable there are two pgnneco.ini files. Binding keys for those may be tricky - just keep trying until a new key finally appears in the pop-up menu and then click it to approve.Īfter the base mapping is finally laid down you can actually start the game, navigate it, tweak the controls in the settings menu, start a race and try how it feels.įrom my experience there still is the deadzone in the center and outside of it turning is still a bit too sharp, but that's already much better than the original ePSXe Negcon plugin - at the very least with this one you have full range of your pedals instead of 1/2 deadzone.Īnd guess what? With this plugin you can actually tweak the steering wheel deadzone! You will use acceleration pedal for pushing buttons in the game menus and brake pedal for leaving them.ĭon't worry so much about the buttons right now - you will be able to re-bind them in game, and you can live without rear gear/handbrake in GT2 just fine to be honest.Īnyway, if you need more buttons, just tick "Digital" near "Twist" to make more of them available. Once you're done with the axles, remember to bind some directional buttons for game menu browsing, camera change, looking back, upshifting, downshifting, start, rear gear, handbrake. Thanks for reading all of this - I hope together we will finally be able to solve this mystery once and for all. Let me know if anything I've just mentioned could be the problem. So I can't find any specific controller setup menus after throwing the plugin into the "plugins" folder. I'm still using ePSXe 1.9.0 and as far as I can tell it uses it's own controller plugins. I was actually able to find a couple short discussions on the topic back from 2003-2004 with this plugin mentioned, but I wasn't able to run it with my setup. So I've been thinking maybe there is some solution that I wasn't able to find, or maybe it's high time for some ps1 emu wizard to take the responsibility and create a proper controller plugin. And then, because the analog controller has forward and backward motion, your acceleration and brake paddles only react after they are half depressed (half of it looks like negative values to the emu). And that everyone trying it has to face the same problems, that make the game unplayable with a wheel.įirst there is the "nothing in the center and then suddenly all the turning in the world". What I was able to dig up so far is that you actually can use the analog controls in GT2, but via some PS1 analog controller plugins. The topic was probably discussed here many times already, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything relevant with my keywords, so here we go again. And so a couple of recent days I've been messing around trying to solve the mystery. My point it that this game turned me into an auto-sim casual, and ultimately led me to buy my first gaming wheel about a year ago (Logitech G27 if anybody is wondering). I even have a full crash-free playthrough of it on my youtube channel, but that's beside the point - take it or leave it. So, I've been playing this game for around eighteen years now - first on my PS1, and then via emulators.
